Welcome to RSDN!

A community organization promoting Swing dancing in the Rochester area, RSDN is dedicated to fostering an open and vibrant dance community. We offer dances with live music provided by premier bands, classes in swing and other social dances taught by Richard Newman & Esther Brill, workshops with world-renowned teachers, and ongoing record hops. Our events are informal and fun, beginners and all ages are welcome, and you don't need to come with a partner.

OLDER NEWS: RSDN Dancers at Nursing Home
Swing Dancing Six dancers - Mary Graupman, Marcia Bickford, Ida Cook, Mark, Roger Fair, & Gary Barber - went to Hurlbut nursing home February 23 and put on a Swing dance demo for patients & staff. The residents enjoyed watching the dancing, and a few were able to be on their feet and dance/sway a little. For those who were in wheel chairs, the dancers were were able to connect hands with them and sway to the music...

OLDER NEWS: RSDN 13th Anniversary!
Swing Dancing RSDN celebrates its 13th anniversary at our Friday Feb 8th swing dance...Since 1995, we've sponsored dances, class series & workshops - and in the course of these, 34 couples have met through dancing! - we have had 22 weddings and 13 babies born!

OLDER NEWS: January Classes Begin!
Swing Dancing Swing 1 & 2 start Wednesday January 23 at Twelve Corners Church, and Swing 3 starts Monday January 21 at St Thomas Episcopal Church - start the new year dancing!

PAST ARTICLE: RSDN Dancers at Senior Living Facility
Swing Dancing On Jan 16, Mary Graupman, Ida Cook, Bill Welcher & Gary Barber volunteered to dance and facilitate participatory Swing dancing with the residents of Alterra Clare Bridge of Perinton, a memory care residence. Director Cindy Platteter wrote us: "I wanted to let you know how thrilled I am. We had such a wonderful evening on Wednesday with Gary, Bill, Mary and Ida. They came in and started dancing with my residents as if they were all old friends....(continued...)
